M/s Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited arranged a visit of a special defence delegation to the company, to motivate and encourage the staff for better performance and growth of the Company. The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Honorable Major General (Retd) G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhill, headed the delegation. Delegation was received by Chairman of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited- Major (Retd) Dulath L. Wijetilleke and Senior Management of the Company along with the Security Officers (Military-Ex-Serviceman & Women) honors.
Major General (Retd) G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne, having a distinguished military career of over 35 years and holding many key appointments in all areas of Defence and Civil – Military Coordination, assumed duties as the Secretary of Defence Ministry on November 20, 2019.
Being a decorated soldier, he was the Master General Ordinance at Army Headquarters from 2015 to 2016. Major General (Retd) Gunaratne, who was the General Officer Commanding of the 53 Division from April 2008 to July 2009, commanded his troops during the Humanitarian Operation of the final phase of the Eelam War IV, which completely annihilated the 30-years of terrorism by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on May 19. He also served as the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (SF HQ) Wanni.
Addressing the gathering Defence Secretary Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne, emphasize the vital role of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka, as only Government held Security Service provision Company in Sri Lanka, who guard with pride guard with responsibility and to trained to be successful in any emergency situation, where the Country needs. Defence Secretary further added bringing Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited within the purview of the Ministry of Defence would facilitate the coordination and cohesiveness at all levels.
Further adding Defence Secretary stated that, “Being cognizant of the vital requirement of employing the Ex-Servicemen and Women of the Military Forces, Sri Lanka Police and Civil Defence with a decent job and salary after their retirement, present His Excellency President Gotabaya Rajapaksha, Former Secretary to the Defence and Urban Development, has made significant decision of form and established Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited, with the vision of protect our Country and our people in any emergency situation.”
Defense Secretary further added with this new move, Management would able to focus more towards creating and enhancing more job opportunities for Ex-Servicemen and Women and Rakna Arakshaka Lanka should recognize as “the Role Model in Security Industry” under the versatile leadership of newly appointed Chairman and Senior Management.
Defence Secretary also called for greater commitment and continuous growth of the Company during past few months and request to give “LITTLE BIT MORE” for the success and growth of the Company.
